Sharoma Scurry-Graves

For Christ. For Community. A personal motto outlining Sharoma's drive to live a life centered in God, family, and service. Her motivation is anchored in a quote by Dr. Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

 

Sharoma Scurry-Graves is from Far Rockaway, New York, by way of Georgia. She currently resides in Houston, TX with her husband and two children. She is an alumna of Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Upon graduation, Sharoma attended the University of Houston, receiving a Master of Social Work.
 
In addition to being an author, Mrs. Scurry-Graves is the Founder and Executive Director of The Michelle Project. The Michelle Project is a non profit organization that creates inclusive educational programs, inspired by holidays and observations. Through her books and community work, Sharoma strives to assure all youth have opportunities to learn beyond the classroom and see themselves in the world around them.

Sharoma is a proud member of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and Grambling University National Alumni Association.
